Wraith - Wraith Servo Gone Wild Empty Wraith Servo Gone Wild

Post by Neodymium09 Mon 2 Dec 2013 - 15:20

Hello SGCers,

I have confirmed the death of my Wraith Stock AS-3 servo. Haven't opened up yet to check on the metal gears yet but it seems to respond erratically and buzzing even at neutral point.Shocked
Gotta hunt me a new servo locally if possible. Can you propose a good servo to drive these 2.2 ripsaws? I want a simple implementation and reasonable priced ones without additional BEC requirements (as I read online some needs them). Now running on stock Axial receiver (AX-3) and ESC (AE-2).
If you know of local shops carrying one it'll be better for quick replacement. Or if you have a used servo to sell off its ok too!

Thanks!

Wraith - Wraith Servo Gone Wild Empty Re: Wraith Servo Gone Wild

Condolences to your recent loss,

Locally Rotor is selling Hitec Waterproof servos. E.g. HS646WP or HS5646WP. Great build quality in terms of waterproofing, ok price, reliable. Rotor also has replacement gears in stock in case something happens again.
But: Hitec uses 24T splines, so you will need another servo horn.

Locally available is also Feetech, e.g. 5513, 5517, 5519. (don't get the 58xxx which is the high voltage version). Around the same price as the digital Hitec. Has a 25T spline so is a direct replacement. Build quality not as good as Hitec but ok. Waterproofed through o-rings, but certainly not to the standard of Hitec. Replacement gears unavailable.

Others may chime in with more suggestions please Very Happy

If you don't need the broken servo please pass it to me, I recycle the electronics for hobby projects.

Ok got it.. Thanks for all the flooding proposals (pun intended). Hitec ones looks good and it boasts the only true waterproofed servo?.. hehe.
I guess thats the premium for quality. Will check it out as option if I can get there (rotor) in time before closing these few days. Seems they carry tons of other poisonous things too:twisted:

Don't understand the need rush to get it up and running, but mind seems unease until it is fixed.. lol

I would recommend feetech rather then going for hitec one. Busted 2 of my hitec waterproof servo within a month. Feetech servo have served me well for almost 6mths and and have endured anything and everything I thrown at it. But at the end is up to you to decide. Just sharing my 2 cents worth of experiences...

woaa.. 2 within short time is gonna be costly. Failed due to water soaking or other reasons?.
I think I will consider something with replaceable gears and lower cost (in case thing happen). I still have 1/4 can of plastidip to re-enforce waterproofing Smile
Will look around, hunting for spares too for some redundancy stocking up..lol
Thanks! cheers

Only thing is that i realize that hitec servo cannot run hot. It will tend to seize internally... Anyway might be only me. To me servo are heng suay case. Best to get cheaper if possible as no warranty for this items anyways.
