My Kit Wraith got parts issues! QC prob???
Hi crawler bros!
I started to built my Kit Wraith part by part only to find some problems which I think I wanna share here:
1) All my plastic parts with M2 holes are not threaded! I have to go to my former supplier's workshop to get it threaded! Luckily I had this contact.
2) My 2 steering knuckle are identical! I only realised that when I start to assembly the front axle only to notice no matter how I turn and assemble the CVD, the small protruding threaded portion that is going to the wheels are not in a straight line. One side is straight with the main shaft while the other side is slanted! I emailed Towers and they will be replacing the parts for me.
I just wonder what other problems will I meet with later on.
Does anyone of you who had the Kit version experience any issues with the QC?

my kit was okay, no problems.. my M2 holes were not threaded as well, had to thread them myself. other than that was okay..

Oh, so it is a common problem. I saw the step by step video, suppose to be threaded. Not everyone knows how to tap a M2 holes, and tapping tools are not available at your usual DIY shops.... only industrial hardware shops.

yep.. i used a battery-powered drill to assemble the truck, so the threading isn't much of a problem.. just press a little harder and the screw will screw in..

Plastics parts no need to use taps. The screws itself will tap through the plastic as you screw it in.
If you try to thread it , later on you will find the thread all loosen off.

That depend if they give you self-tapping screws or not. The usual M2 P0.5 screws that they gives will put too much stress onto the holes if you forced it. True that plastic got some resilient in it but the stress created around the screw/hole is just not healthy. And on some engineering plastics, it will crack.
For smaller sizes like M2 and M3, they need us to exercise extreme precaution not to over tighten it. They will cut the thread easily or under excessive torque and repeated screwing and unscrewing.
