Li-po Battery Low Voltage

Post by Shogun on Tue 22 May 2012 - 15:35

Hi guys, need some help and would appreciate if someone can assist me on my battery problem.

My battery is a 4200mah 7.4V 60C, I think its a 2S battery. Brand is Acorn Racing. I last used it about 2 weeks ago on my wraith, after which I was busy moving house and totally forgot about the battery being connected to my wraith. Now when I want to recharge it, it keep prompt me low voltage. I did a search online and found that charging it using 1A or even 0.1A will bring it back to life, after which normal charging may continue. I tried that but it still prompt me low voltage. Tried to find out the balance voltage and it still prompt me low voltage.

Can anyone advise me how to bring my battery back to life or its totally dead and beyond rescue.

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, tried the method from this website that says use nicd to charge it a few minutes to charge it up b4 charging as per normal using li-po. But it seems that my battery is getting bloated. Decide to throw away this one and get another new battery . Don't wana risk the battery explode or catch fire and burn down my house.

ermm.. one should NEVER use any other modes to charge lipos. really. tested myself and proved it. in your case, apparently you've decided to throw away already, if not, you can actually just plug into your charger in lipo mode and charge. i'm not sure what charger you're using, as some chargers do not support low voltage charging.

i had a lipo which was the same as your... voltage too low to be recharged...

have to be careful....
i used the nimh mode... while monitoring the voltage level... i charged it using the nimh mode for "A FEW SECONDs" to bring the voltage up to around 6V ~ 7V... and stopped the charging..

then followed by using Lipo mode to recharge the battery...

have to really be careful with it...
i think it's still wiser to throw it away. Smile

Ya, tried to charged it up to 6V earlier. Tried charging using nicd 3 times, about 3-4mins each. Voltage still below 6V and can see the battery is noticeably more bloated than my other battery. The charger that i am using is GT Power charger. However, i have decided to throw it away instead of risking it and have more damages later on. Thanks for the replies. Smile

hmm.. i'd recommend Hobbyking's chargers(Eco6 or Eco8), Tahmazo T15 Plus or Hyperion 0606i(0610i also works) for these batteries. they support low voltage charging with the low voltage warning.

just a few tips to share with all who use lipos. i myself run 3 lipos, used to have more than 10 packs but sold off most of them. had that problem as well.. till i read in forums that some chargers have the low voltage charging function and i tried, really works, and revives the battery as well.

anyone who has a low voltage pack can pass me the pack, i'll recharge it up and revive the batt. Very Happy
