Post by babyboy Sat 13 Oct 2012 - 1:17

Here's my second Land Rover D110 build. This is a more simpler one. This is what I'm trying to build. Soft top Landy. And hopefully this one has no "Top side heavy problem".

[url=[url=https://servimg.com/view/17501886/106]rover - BabyBoy's Land Rover D110 V2 48490710

After a few hours of cutting, with experience from the first build, the cutting is more cleaner. Lesson learn here is I need to get the angle cutter. Set the speed of the cutting disc to the minimum and you get better and cleaner cut.

All trim and sand. Next will be the extension.
[url=[url=https://servimg.com/view/17501886/104]rover - BabyBoy's Land Rover D110 V2 P1060710

This is how I cut it. If you pry the back slightly the cutting is almost perfect. But safety first. I use a washer to pry it slightly and push along as I cut futher.

Am I the only one having this problem where the image is always double? I need to delete one photo everytime. scratch

Not sure about the image problem. I always use imageshack...np for me. This is a very inspiring build... Should I go for a series 2 109 build? It's about 5 kg now... A 109 will add on an additional 2 kg I think.

Go go go! Build one. Do a SAS pinky and you can cut down the weight. bounce

I tried but can't fall in love with the D90 unless I cut up the back....errr that would be the V3 Smile soon I hope. Still left one dun know what yet.

After searching the web for more info, I will try to do it this way. Dual purpose pickup landy. With the canvas off will look like this.

Hope to update more later today.

Still in progress. As my second intention is dual usage as an army land rover cum pickup(a personal challenge to have 2 in one landrover. See youtube attach fr previous update). But after getting the roll bar up, found that it is not possible. And the rear shock is just too high to have a flat bed like the TF2. Now stuck with how to secure the roll bar to the body. The pickup will be on my fourth mounting project Embarassed . Hence no posting of update till i get the roll bar secured. After which will be the sanding, putty and painting. So near to completion yet so long to get a solution.

Wah you ask me a newbie to setup a cantilever suspension..... it will take forever. lol! . Was thinking of shorter shocks 80mm also too long. Think any shorter no more articulation. But that will be the next project headache. Sad .

Was very busy early in the year. Now finding time to continue my build. Some updates.

After a few hours of solder and de-solder, this is what I got. Not the best but can do for now. Thanks for watching.

Very nice skeleton indeed!

Regarding your soldering: you may need more flux to have the solder flow around the joints.

Thanks. will add in additional brace for this later.

Yeah the soldering is not good. I'm still trying to get it to melt in to the brass rod. Still need to improve it. My camel landy was better. Dun noe if the burner plays a part. I use two different type of burner with different type of gas. The solder dun seems to melt properly as compare to the landy roof rack.

Its been sometime since I update my progress. Here's some tiny work done on the rear bed canvas.

Mozzie wipe out?
rover - BabyBoy's Land Rover D110 V2 P1070810

Need to ensure that the canvas dun strip itself. By burning the tip of the canvas, it will prevent it from comming apart. The edges will melt and keep the tread together in one piece.

After some cutting, glue, putty and painting... this is what I have. Still need to sand and putty. White don't show so much. But the green brings out the ugly workmanship of mine. Will touch up later on...

On to the chassis. Need to extend the dingo wheelbase.
rover - BabyBoy's Land Rover D110 V2 9450305853_5849e7d15c_b

First off. From experience, its easy to stretch the wheelbase. Just relocate the shock hoop one hole back as shown and drill a new hole for the back. It's that easy!Very Happy
rover - BabyBoy's Land Rover D110 V2 9450282917_64e6c2975e_b

Take measurement of the required extension and add that number to the existing stock treaded rod and I get the total length that I need for the new treaded rod.

The end result is 2 D110...Laughing
rover - BabyBoy's Land Rover D110 V2 9450281553_c58ed9136b_b

That's all for now. Will work on the mounting of the D110 body to the chassis next.... Thanks for watching.
