Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
Unboxing photos!
Ordered the Axial EXO kit around the same time as bro Wrigleys...
Took these photos some time back and the exo is still in a box high up in the shelf...
Will try to start the build soon!
(P.S. bro Wrigleys's EXO is also still New In Box too )

Re: Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
after collecting dust for the pass 4-5 months........
finally had some time to start on the Axial EXO Terra Buggy build...
here are some photos taken during the kick start of the build...
Thanks for looking!
BAG A
------------------
The differentials.... first time doing an oil filled differential.... learnt something new in the hobby...
BAG B
------------------
Differentials continued.....
Marine greased the gears before continuing....
The front dogbones at 96mm....
The camber links done up to 4cm....
Closed up the differential assembly...
BAG C
---------------
this $2 magnetic tray from Daiso is quite useful.... keeps the bolts and screws in place...
The rear dogbones are 94mm and seems like it will pop out at extreme shock travels....
Therefore.... added a thin nylon spacer inside the cup.... seems like it will prevent the dogbones popping out.... will need to check this again once i finish assembling the shocks...
Next up.... the centre differentials... oil filled as well....
Carbon fibre stickered the centre chassis plate...
mounted the center differential cover.....
BAG E
------------------------
steering assembly...
installed the steering assembly onto the chassis....
here's how it looks now....
ok... that's all for this session.... progress will be slow as well...
but definitely want to get the EXO running soon!!!
love the Axial EXO Terra Buggy!!
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
Nice, so many builds going on right now
Regarding the dog bone nylon piece: In Tamiya kits they usually use O-rings, or Urethane bushings (foamy material) for this purpose.

Actually; you have a DF03Ra, right? That one has (white) urethane bushings. Maybe you have still some spare from the kit?

BAG F
--------
Motor mount... servo mount... esc base plate.... receiver box.....
will be using the Hobbywing 120A SC8 Waterproof combo
bolts... nuts... screws...
motor mount... pinion fixed...
pinion meshed....
using my favourite waterproof servo... BMS-620MG....
greased the servo output....
used 4 M3 nuts as spacer.... as the servo is a little "long"...
metal servo horn and steering arm fixed up...
battery compartment and straps assembled...
mounted the ESC and tidy up the wires a little...
re-routed the servo cable as i missed a step earlier on..
bad habit of not following the manual...
receiver installed in the receiver box.... and extended a spare servo extension to channel 3... for future binding... and also for LED supply just in case i decide to hook up some lights...
ok... that's how it looks like for now...
thats all for today!
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
Ahhhh! The smell of brand new electronics in the morning! Love it!
PS: we need to put the measurement system on it, will be interesting to see how much current such a beefy engine draws.

When can i book an appointment for the analysis?
Re: Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
some updates on the Axial EXO build...
skipping the bags of Shocks as i will not be using the stock shocks....
proceeding to BAG G...
The front and rear metal plates looks a little plain....
so decided to spice it up a little with some silver colored Carbon fiber stickers...
here's how they look when mounted onto the front and rear bumper guards...
my trusty little cheap power screw driver from IKEA...
the power screw driver is a helpful tool... for all the tube work...
really speeds up the process... and less damaging / tiring for my old and weak arms...
next... the radiator.... still has fan blades inside!
nice scale details... although can't really see the fan blades and the grills are mounted...
the rear lights for the EXO... quite disappointed that it doesn't come with the lens set...
it says in the manual that the lens set is not included.... well... will just cut some lens from clear polycarbonate the next time round...
the tail lights and the radiator mounted...
the roof lights....
and that's all for now....
tube work done...
next step would be quite time consuming..
which is to think of a nice color for the EXO...
thanks for looking!
Re: Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
I like the grilles...very nice. If all sct shells came with it will be awesome!
If you wanna see the fan inside, try paint them silver color, like most radiators ive seen.

Hey Boolean, great build. May I ask, where do you buy your stuff from, locally or on-line?

bought it from towerhobbies... online is usually cheaper...
Re: Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
Oh, Tower. I thought you might have different lobang. I bought quite a few things from them also, then found Amain has cheaper shipping.

Re: Boolean21's Axial EXO Terra Buggy
some updates on my Axial EXO build....
was thinking of the color scheme of the axial exo... when "Axial EXO Wrap" came to my mind...
hence....
tried to whip up something on the computer....
love the ken block livery very much.... so adapted a little over to the axial exo wrap....
printed and cut the stickers....
wrapped the side panel.....
with the air vent grill installed....
wrapped the other side panel....
followed by the smaller piece of side panel... and the 2x small rear panels
here's the hood/ bonnet wrapped....
and finally ..... wrapped the roof....
this is all the updates for the past few nights...
thanks for looking!
