Post by RCGolf Fri 12 Apr 2013 - 0:41

Hi guys,

So there was this hoo har about M chassis on the other thread just not that long ago. "Happen" (..really!) to pass by Tai Sing during lunch the other day and immediately took notice of a particular body I really liked (...for RC car la..) that was meant for the M class chassis. Seeing that it may just be the up and coming gig in SGC, so have been busy for the past few evenings with this ...

build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2712

So you can imagine what a surprise I had when an unexpected SMS landed me with this today ...

build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2711

So naturally I was re-energised this evening to to do a quick mock up like this ...

build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2715

It's not finished yet ... but I'm already Luving it cyclops

build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Empty First M build

Post by RCGolf Mon 15 Apr 2013 - 21:11

Thanks guys for the kind words Very Happy

IMO, the M05 chassis is quite an easy and enjoyable build. Except for the screws which I find square off very easily, rest of the parts are typical top notch Tamiya quality that many are familiar with. Not sure how I am gonna service that gear box without taking the whole chassis apart though silent

Here are some WIP photos:

build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2716 build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2718

"Ball Bearings should always be your first upgrades" it says so on the box ... I'm inclined to agree Smile
build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2719

build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2724build - My First M - RCgolf's M05 Img_2722
They call it "Friction dampers" ... Rolling Eyes They could have called it "Pogo sticks" and you wouldn't have felt any difference.

Nonetheless, the completed chassis. Initial impression is that all those weight are way down low, probably gonna be one stable and fun little puppy.. pirat can't wait to run it

Gotta love this body kit from HPI. It comes with options like different front grille sticker, different sets of tail lights, 4 different sets of side mirrors and 2 pairs of wipers (LHD or RHD) for you to choose which to use. Lots of sponsor and retro Datsun decals too. All body kits should offer such choices. In fact, I was so spoilt for choice, that I have yet to decide which wing mirror and tail light decal to use Suspect

Damn swee man...better than Tamiya golf in body detailing!

Did you actually mount the rear bumper upside down...or mixed with the front and rear? Not supposed to look like that leh? scratch

Nice nice nice! Looks really sweet with the Datsun body. Wrong wheels driven though :-)

Regarding your stripped screw problem: Maybe your cross-head screw driver is not the right type for the Tamiya screws? I do have 2 types and one of them is a screw stripper as well, but the other one fits snug and has never stripped a single screw. Better check since you had the same issue on your XV-01!

Fully agree! And the great thing is that the second set of wipers, mirrors, etc can be used to add details to another body. Plus all the light buckets are well prepared to receive LEDs. Even better than Tamiya bodies! I think I have to order more HPI bodies Twisted Evil
