Oceanic's Gmade R1 Bumble Bee Ver.2 Empty Oceanic's Gmade R1 Bumble Bee Ver.2

Gmade R1 Rock Buggy mounted on axial wraith axles and RC4WD shocks.
Had the wraith axles sitting in the store for quite some time, don't feel like fixing the gmade portal axles yet so mounted the wraith axles on it. Same goes for the shocks, had read reviews saying the transition shocks leaks. Will fix it up when time allow to see if its really leak. Most of the screws on the R1 comes with a nut to secure unlike axial when you just screw into the tuber/frame or mounts. Especially the body panels, all of it have to secure with nuts. A pain in the butt where you have to squeeze your fingers inside the cockpit to hold and align the nuts.... Can't even use long nose pliers to get into the cockpit as obstruct by the frame. Gears in the transmission all plastic, wonder how long it will last, had a lot of marine grease smack into the transmission. Soldering the LEDs is a tedious work, tiny wires, short wires etc... Light bars not inclusive.
Pics posted not in order.

Awesome crawler!
Hope you will try out the portal axles some time and report how they work. Will be interesting to see if the added ground clearance improve things, and if they have other drawbacks.

Had a little time, so fixed up the stock gmade r1 Transition shocks, with aluminium rod ends i had sitting in the cabinet. Articulations is pretty much good though i had not a single drop of oil in it. Reviewed it has leaking problems cos the plastic shock cap is at the bottom with no rubber O ring to prevent leakage.

Had the 1st run at Tampines this morning. Noises start coming from the drive shafts about after 50m then motor dead.
Went back home to figure it out, so decided to fix and install the portal axles. Cos the wraith axle drive shaft output is off center by quite a bit,
thus had that very difficult angle for the shaft. The portal is center. Was waiting for the front CVA for the R1 as the stock steering angle was very bad, about 30+°. The CVA is 40°, more steering angle. Spoil the 27t motor, was left with a 20t, so 20t it is.Had to rebuild the shocks to droop set up instead of sprung, due to the portal axles which the shock mounting is raised.

Had the 1st run on the portal axles. A great run, climb effortlessly. Cons about it was the limited steering angle like i have mentioned.
