Zax's Jurassic Park Jeep Build. (RC4WD TF2 SWB)
Once again we come to another episode of my build thread. This time I wanna do something different from a RC4WD kit which I have gotten recently. Well here it is.
For those who dont know what swb stands for.... Well it stands for Short Wheel Base. Specifically catered to put on the tamiya cc-01 wrangler jeep body. Lets have a look inside.
Once open the lid you will find a easy to read instructions. You will find the box for this kit is small. That is because the kit does not include the body only the chassis.
The famous parts famous foam tray that all the newer RC4WD kit come with. Unlike the TF2 this chassis comes with a single speed tranny like Gelande 2. The rest of the items are similar as the TF2 & G2 like the axle and transfer case.
Next tray will be the ladder frame and all its assembly parts. As you can see the ladder frame is shorter then a normal TF2. I will do a side by side comparison later on.
The most bottom is all the hardware and the 4 mud thrasher 1.9 wheel set that came standard in the box kit.

Re: Zax's Jurassic Park Jeep Build. (RC4WD TF2 SWB)
First here is the actual length of the frame for those who wanna know the difference for the SWB with the TF2.
This time round I will not go into detail to open up all single component to be re grease as most of the parts are some what similar and you guys can have a look at my other gelande 2 build thread here
Firstly the transmission assembly that is also similar to the G2. Only single speed. The built for the SWB is some what simple and Im able to complete the chassis in less than 3hrs.
Next will the Shock Stays. Take note of the length and orientation of the shock stays. The fwd is longer than the rear for your information.
Another bling bling for the axle diff covers.
This kit comes with spring leaf similar to the TF2 stocks.
Unlike the TF2, this kit comes with a stock metal shaft. This should have been good for the TF2 and G2 but too bad that this 2 kits comes with plastic shafts.
Here is the finish assembled chassis.
Another hop up for the receiver box.
I will not be using the stock rims in the box as I find them to be too light for trailing. So I got myself another set of rims from rcmart which cost me about USD36.
A view on how it look with the body mounted.

Re: Zax's Jurassic Park Jeep Build. (RC4WD TF2 SWB)
As the project progresses on, I have come to a part where I paint the body. I will not go through the details on how to prep the body as its explain in my previous build thread. Do have a search for it. Instead I come straight to the finish painted body.
And give it a nice layer of clear coat.
Next I have to customise the logo and and number of the jeep out of some decal papers. The paper is transparent and not waterproof so what ever I printed on the paper will easily wash away at the first sight of mud. So what I dis was after pasting the decals I apply 3 more layers of clear coat with the initial coat in a light mist with bearing in mind that the clear coat paint might melt the decals altogether. After the second coat then you can apply a third and final wet coat to give it a sealed protection.
The number on the side is sprayed on from a stencil that I have made.
A view of the painted body with a rear end rack fitted.
Next adding some cosmetic items to give it a nice bling.
Wiring it all together is a real challenge.
Final look of the kit after all have been completed.
Was free the other day & manage to have fun with this Kit. Broke the tip of my snorkel though....
Thats all for this build. Hope you guys enjoy the build. Till next next time, have fun RCing.
