RCgolf's Tamiya XV-01 Pro Kit
Hi All,
Just want to share pics of my XV-01 Pro kit build before the New Year !!! Happy New Year everyone, keep RC-ing and enjoy:
Elec compartment is a real tight fit.
37mm wide x 44mm long x 36mm high (with shroud on)
Battery pack not thicker than 25mm
Front differential Gear Box with Slipper Clutch hop up.
Finally Done. What's left is a paint job. Happy 2013 everyone......

Looks like this chassis is design for bashing.

Re: RCgolf's Tamiya XV-01 Pro Kit
Another top down look at the XV-01 chassis. As ESC is all the way at the back, this needs a longer then usual sensor cable (300mm) and longer lead cables from the motor to reach it.
Initial opinion is that the stock suspension seemed quite soft and would easily bottom out. Think may need to change to heavier damper oil and stiffer springs very soon. Although there are mounting provisions and brackets front and back, the kit does not come with an ARB

First Impressions
Run Update:
Had my maiden run on an open basketball court. First impression was that the handling is fantastic. Chassis has a tint of natural over-steer when the turns are dialled in but yet controllable. Let go of the throttle and the tail comes back obediently. Overall, the stock chassis with stock set-up is pretty balanced and not difficult to control. At high speed curves, the chassis has a realistic roll to one side which makes it look really scale too.
With a 8.5T motor and a 100A ESC (overkill I know), but my accel. and braking isn't entirely fascinating. Not sure if it is due to my ESC settings but would probably need to explore the ESC a bit more.
Alas, was probably getting too confident about the handling and got too aggressive round a tree doing figure 8s and accidentally drove into a shallow ditch. Vehicle dived in and the front suspension arm came off its ball joints.
This however was unfortunately a frequently reported "flaw" in the forums about the XV. Here's a picture of the part that gave way. Good thing there is a hop-up alum option for it though.
Overall, loved the handling on this thing although I am not so sure if it is really suitable for crazy bashing....

Hi RTech,
Tks. I agree the poles are ugly too. But I temporarily having them for 2 reasons which I think is practical:
1) I can flip the car and place it on its top side (supported by the poles) to facilitate taking off the battery cover from the undercarriage without having to remove the body.
2) I am concerned if I change the body in future, the poles would be too short.
As soon as I can find an alternate solution for the above, I will trim them off.

The Dirty Basher
Hi all,
Went Segar for a 2nd session this afternoon after the morning trail and had a bashing good time. For a while before I shot this video, I was actually trashing the XV along with the buggies on the buggy track. Yup went full throttle with the jumps and was pleasantly surprised it held up fine although there was a few tumbles and cartwheels. Alas, I didn't take any vids of that crazy track session but it sure was extremely exhilarating. At the end of the day, I was happy I didn't break anything.... yet.
Here's a short trailer of a "tamer" but no less exciting and very fun rally bashing ... wished the cleaning up afterwards was as exciting.
PS. Please "like" my youtube video if you like it Thanks

Thanks. Shots taken with the iPhone 4S placed on the floor and sandwiched between 2 rocks to prop it up Quite happy with the angle nonetheless. Haha.
BTW, looks like there is going to be a XV-01 TC version. http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=58558

Sure did!! Sliding on the sand and kicking up the dust trails are real addictive too
Think it will be a perfect playground for WR8s. Hope the vid can entice some of them to the dirt soon. So when is the next bashing meet?!

yeah, the wr8s had been there during CNY...
next bashing meet will be in around 2 weeks time i guess...
bro harakiri's plan is to have a Bash / tour / drift meet after every 3 trails or so...
of course, in between, we can have adhoc meets!
think there will be an after trail bashing after this sunday's trail...
