Re: Boolean21's HPI Racing WR8 Ken Block Gymkhana 5 Edition
love the tarmac wheels and tyres on the wr8.... so decided to keep them for display!
got a set of rally wheels and tyres for bashing....
so sprayed them for bashing use...
this is the yellow paint that i had left from the Traxxas Slash Ironman Ivan Steward paint work...
masked the wheels....
and the hexes....
RJ London primer, Muimeisha Yellow, Tamiya Black....
primed the wheels...
and after spraying a few coats....
this is the result....
mounted the tyres....
the view from the inside....
got a new bottle of tyre CA glue.... first time using this...
done! tyres glued.... messy newbie job.... too pampered by beadlock wheels....
but for bashing use.... it should be fine!
comparison between the 1.9 rally wheel and the 2.2 ken block tarmac wheel...
the tarmac wheels definitely looks better! that's why likely will be keeping it for display!
mounted the rally wheels back onto the HPI WR8....

Re: Boolean21's HPI Racing WR8 Ken Block Gymkhana 5 Edition
time really flies!!!
just realised it had been 2 years and 2 days since i received the HPI WR8 Ken Block car!
to celebrate it's birthday.... or belated birthday..... decided to lower it a little...
thanks to the advice and guidance from bro Marpek...
didn't know that we can lower the WR8 so easily...
i'm really a noob!
marpek told me to look for the 4x grub screws that came with the WR8....
couldn't remember where i kept them... (but later found them after i had finished lowering... )
so i used 4pcs of M4 x 10mm hex bolts...
for the front, just look for the hole on the arms near the links holding the anti-roll bars....
and screw in the bolt....
done....
this is how it looks like on the bottom side...
this will mechanically limit the full travel of the shock.... and thus lowering the car....
it's that easy... glad i learnt something and will look out for this in other RC cars and trucks in future...
how i wished the slash 4x4 has this feature too....
back to the wr8.....
repeated for the right side for the front....
and did the same for the rear...
the bolt....
the bottom side view....
repeated for the other side...
and done!!
lowered the wr8 to around 8 - 10mm ground clearance...
side view of the lowered chassis....
love the lowered looks....
now the wr8 is ready again for the next Punggol hardcourt meet...
thanks for looking!
