[TIPS] Turnigy nano-tech 4200mAh battery for M-Chassis or nimh battery compartments
Ok, got my batteries and I can see now what the issue is.
The battery fits perfectly, but it is the rubber grommet around the power and balancing leads that interferes with the opening on the battery holder end cap:
Washers are not a good solution here, it is better to cut out a bit around the opening where the wires come out.
On our 2nd hand M-05 this was already done on one of the end caps (rather excessively):
With this cut out the battery fits absolutely snug without being jammed in. It fits actually better than a NiMH pack as the NiMH pack has a bit of space to move left and right and would need a buffer of some sorts.
Just for comparison: here is the Turnigy battery compared to a standard NiMH 6-pack:
On the bottom is an old LRP 4600mAh 2S LiPo we bought last year 2nd hand. With right angle banana plugs it fits well with the unmodified M-06 battery cap.
Note: those LiPo fit the M-05 and many other Tamiya cars, but does not fit in the older kits with a bathtub chassis like the CC-01, TA01 as they are slightly too long for those!

This definitely deserves a separate thread....
Hope you dont mind me splitting this thread out from the poison thread as it would be easier for the other bros to refer.
Thanks for the writeup.
