Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber
Had been wanting to build a Scorpion 4x4 for a very long time...
Some info on the Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 -> http://www.scorpion4x4.com/
Some photos of the 1:1 Scorpion 4x4....
So... bought this tuber body from bro Teck quite some time back...
it is some what similar to the Scorpion 4x4 chassis.... close.... but different..... different but similar... :D:D
So... i striped the panels....
sanded down..... and more sanding...
then primed with grey primer.... and sprayed with "Steel Grey" and coated with matte clear.....
that's all for the past few days.....
at least it got started!
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber
some spare midnight oil to burn.... so continued the build...
was choosing whether to use the spare AX10 part to transfer over to the Integy tuber chassis.... or to use the rc4wd T-Rex 60 axles....
i decided to go for the easier method.. transfer the ax10 parts over...
so first thing to do was to take the transmission assembly off from the ax10....
the 55t motor will be replaced with a 550 sized silver can....
took apart the transmission and filled it up with marine grease....
then assembled it back together with the spur gear cover....
broke the 1.5 hex driver while removing a grub screw on the drive shaft...
made some lower links using threaded rod and M4 rod ends as the links on the AX10 are too long....
lower links are now 9.5cm "eye to eye".... 1cm shorter than the AX10 lower links...
replaced the shocks to 85mm shocks as well....
some shots with the potential future driver for this rig....
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber
The scorpion has always been in my mind.... hasn't forgotten it.... just that time is really scarce....
finally... managed to trace out some panels using some cardboard... then trace the cardboard onto styrene and made the bonnet, side panels and roof...
here are some photos...
the bonnet.....
the side panels....
and the roof....
needs some sanding down.....
that's all for now...
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber
no no... i didn't forget about this build nor did i wanna give up on the scorpion 4x4....
just too tied up with stuffs....
here's some updates....
my plan for the scorpion 4x4 is have 4 wheel steering.... always wanted to have a truck with 4WS.... and scorpion seems to be the right candidate....
so.... i would need rear steering links for the scorpion....
the front steering links of the scorpion are the green AX10 links....
so i look thru the trucks and notice that my land rover has the green AX10 links....
so it'll be the donor for the rear steering links....
looked through my spares box and found the topcad steering links for scx10....
these will go onto the defender...
So... out come the green links....
and in goes the topcad steering links....
done on the donor!
now.... installing the green steering links onto the rear of the scorpion 4x4
now for the servos.... managed to dig out a few hobbyking servos from spare pool.....
and will be using these.... low cost waterproof servos.... rated 12.8Kg torque.....
don't know how good they are.... but will just try them out...
installed the rear servo....
and this servo on the front will also be replaced by the hobbyking servo
done!
had set up the truck for 4WS and will do up the video and post soon!
thanks for looking!

here's a short clip to demo the 4 wheel steering functions provided by the low cost GT3B transmitter.
Re: Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber

No la bro.... not the first one la...
Re: Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber
was very inspired by bro Robert's camouflage fleet.....
but without his skills.... painting a camouflage truck is too much of a challenge for me....
so.... i tried the easy way out....
googled for some camouflage prints.... and settled down for a digital camouflage print....
printed the camouflage design.....
then wrapped the panels with the camouflage print stickers...
and there it goes!
thanks for looking!

Great following the new trend: plastic wrap instead of paint!
Ready for Sunday's trail!

still not quite ready... still need to dig out the winch I bought for this truck.... and mount a seat.... and look for a machine gun. ....laneboysrc wrote:Great following the new trend: plastic wrap instead of paint!

Just realised this project kick started last year!
At least some progress in one year....

Re: Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber
received a kind donation of fire arms from bro Liew....
a 1:6 scale GPMG !
test fitted the GPMG on the roof....
yeah... it's big.... but still acceptable i hope!
oh now i need a micro servo to control it.....
oh yes.... i've got a 360 degrees micro servo available!
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's Preferred Chassis Fabrication Scorpion 4x4 - 1:10 tuber
more hands on the scorpion 4x4 build....
dig this out from the hobbyking goodies....
ordered this quite some time back for this project.... recommended by bro Robert...
Dr Mad Thrust machine gun sound effects....
and also another piece of this....
Dr Mad Thrust's receiver controlled BEC....
this will be used to control the turning on and off of the machine gun sound effects....
mocked up the GPMG and did a trial....
the 360 degrees micro servo definitely has enough power to turn the GPMG...
and one good thing about 360 degrees is that, i can just adjust the subtrim off center and the GPMG can keep rotating automatically....
took some photos of the mocked up rig....
that's all for today....
thanks for looking!
