Start of a journey!?...
Hi Crawlers... you guys have a lot to answer for!... My 2 year old son found your Landies on Youtube - and suddenly my bonus has turned into an RCModelex D110! I'm looking forward to taking care of the body etc but would like to ask your advice on sourcing the electronics locally - have a 3 speed Futaba radio and receiver and a 27t brushed motor that came with the kit - where can I go here in SG for all the rest - esc, battery, servo etc etc? Most of the shops here seem to be for racers or flying - any of them understand low speed, hi torq crawling? This thing is SOOO heavy I need the right gear just to move it! Itching to get in the jungle! Thanks for any advice,,,,

Re: Start of a journey!?...
Hi and welcome to SGCrawlers. Wow the first RCModelex D110. Well most of us got our esc fr online shop or ebay. Hobbyking is one place to start for esc and battery. I used NiMH battery but most crawlers here used lipo. First of all is water proofing your electronics. You can find info on how some bros here water proof their electronics... balloon.. box.... plastic bag... corrosionx and the list go on. Theres no single way to do it.
Marine grease your gears before assembling the kit for water proofing the axel. Do look out for those build threads and diy threads. I buy all my paint fr tamiya. Kiddy palace with kiddy palace card for discount or Stargek. Buy the paint that start with letter TS for hardbody. Do a primer before painting and a clear coat to preserved the paint after.
Do a build up thread. Lookig forward to the the D110. You are the first in SGCrawlers with a RCModelex D110.

Re: Start of a journey!?...
Great way to spend a bonus!
Babyboy already said almost everything worth to know.
Don't forget that you need a special charger as well. LiPo batteries are the way to go today but in order to ensure they last they also need to be charged and stored properly.
You may want to consider dropping by at our Sunday trails to get more info than we can write on a blog post.

Re: Start of a journey!?...
Just get a cheap brushed esc and a water proof servo. The 27T motor should be good enuf for trailling and scale speed. You can change to a higher torque motor 35T if you feel that the defender lack power. You need to keep it simple to maintain and enjoy the trail and not spending time to figure how to operate the electronics.
The other option is to get a water proof esc and you only need to worry how to water proof the rx only. For lipo battery I do not have experience on how to keep it dry. Do post your build and post query in the build tread.. the crawlers guys will help you along the way.(a 2S Lipo if good enuf... wht you need is the running time from the battery.... get a lipo that has 4000maH. The bigger the number for mah the longer running time. Do take note of the lipo size so that it fit in your crawler.)
