Re: Desert Buggy XL build
Thought some scale stuff would help with the Desert Buggy theme that I'm after.
Re: Desert Buggy XL build
These are a new set of Moab XL tires that I cut up a few years back. I thought I would share them with you. The bead locks are also glued.
They work awesome because the side wall is 10 times better.
Re: Desert Buggy XL build
I didn't do much lately I did take the slipper clutch apart and sand the surfaces and oil the bearing. I made a new solder connection on one of the lipos. I just touched it and it came apart. I'm lucky it didn't cause any problems as it almost always does. Oh I made a strap for the front hood pins also. I should be able to pull them fast if I ever need to and with the cord it is harder to loose the clips also.
Cooling vent also added to the Gear Cover.

Video!
]Time to eat some Yeti's! Lunch anyone?
I would like to see a Axial Yeti take a hit like this.

This picture shows what to do and also shows what spring to use and what not to use.
The lower heavy spring is the one needed.
Guys I bought these springs years ago at Home Depot is a verity pack of springs. Finding the right spring rate is key. Also The aluminum Diff housing is key as it will no warp over time from the pressure that is on the gears that put the pressure on the housing. I'm not saying it will not work I just don't know because I haven't tried it. I'm going to though. Also when you cut the spring I use a dremel cut wheel. Feather the cut edge so that it is not going to bind against the gear. You get this right and you will not need lockerss hardly ever. Good luck!
Yes... your seeing this right. That is JB Weld black not the gray. This works well and it takes the shock out of the gears well.

The front lite buckets that are from the Losi 5ive is now a functioning set of 10mm lites with flashlight lens to get the look I wanted. I will be using resistors to keep the voltage as it should using a 2 cell liopo battery.
