Boolean21's Land Rover Defender D90 Build....
here's my updates of the D90...
got 2 helpers to help build my land rover.... but... but... they only wayang wayang only.... using eye power... didn't help much....
here are the stuffs from rcmart....
and my 2 helpers demonstrating eye power!
ordered a r2 transmission for the build.... still contemplating whether to get the topcad axles or use my ax10 axles....
chassis will be build using the aluminium angle bars....
sketch up the frame already, just need to fine tune a bit before starting on the cutting....

Re: Boolean21's Land Rover Defender D90 Build....
Looks good man!
From the status from your pics, can see still a long way to go man. After you finished the chassis, planning the shell to fit nicely, and lastly painting the shell in details is another long lasting project...trust me!
may the force be with you...

Boo, why dun you use bolts and nuts? Rivets will become loose if encounter hard impact and cannot be tighten. You got to drill it out and rivet again.

din noticed you use riverts...kinda innovative sia! Next time invest stainless steel riverts...might look coo and strong, and may even hold better than bolts and nuts!
Why you guys din experience using solid alu rectangular bars to form the chassis by bending the profile? If i plan to custom a chassis like you guys, i will try that out! A rectangular profile similar to scx10 chassis should be able to do it... else use mild steel, but must heat treat.

I saw people using square tubes and cut into half, length wise.... And became 2.C-channels... Then heat up with blow torch and clamp onto vice and bend like the scx10 chassis rails...
I can try to dig out the thread if anyone needs info...
Re: Boolean21's Land Rover Defender D90 Build....
Alu are easy to cut , But easily bent. Stainless steel is strong but difficult to cut. Mild steel slightly easy to cut not so easy to bent but will rust.
So wat metals to use........

I think aluminium is good enough man... Strong enough... No problem...
And most importantly, easy to work with....

Re: Boolean21's Land Rover Defender D90 Build....
Updates on the chassis...
Removed my axles from my ax10.... Drive shaft's grub screws were stuck... So drilled out the grub screws....
Drilled out rivets on the chassis as well and replaced them with bolts and nuts....
Mounted up the axles with the ax10 upper links... Shocks.... And mocked up the body... Need to lengthen the front links, and shorten the rear....
will think about it again.... Seems like goiod progress for one afternoon...
The rest of the defender builds, update your photos in your build threads too!

Thinking of eatdirt's previous land rover colour, the 2 tone one.... Or bright yellow or bright orange.... Maybe light sand.....
U think light sand same colour as the unpainted shell?
If same, I just spray the front windscreen! Haha
Ya, the wheels and tyres are from topcad hongkong...
I think all 3 locations are great! lets do all 3!Marpek wrote:slow wrote:Wow.. .. doing Very fast liao

Found a photo of a land rover defender on 40 inch tyres and 2 inch body lift....
In comparison, our tyres don't look too oversized...
