The Rig: Scratch built AM General M923 A1 Bigfoot 5 ton 6x6 truck

Date: 07 Aug 2012
Location: Punggol End

Finally, more or less finished my scratch built truck, modelled after the AM General M923A1 6x6 5 ton truck. The build thread can be found at https://sgcrawlers.forumotion.com/t721-boolean21-s-1-10-m923-5-ton-truck-newbi...

Truck cab is made using styrene and bed is made using MDF wood, running on custom aluminium chassis and venom creeper axles.

Runs well and looks really great!

I can see what you meant with excessive body roll in another post, but then at some points of the video the heavy weight of the body makes it look very realistic. Maybe the roll is caused by the suspension points being too close to the centre line of the body?

So have you already decided on tow charges in case vehicles brake down during a trail? jocolor

Yeah, the body roll is caused by the heavy chassis and shock mounting at an angle...
Went to crawl under a military 5 tonner yesterday to study how the anti roll bars are mounted... Very Happy
The SG's 5 tonner has the anti roll bars in both front and back... Will be copying the design onto the,m923 during the next midnight oil session... Very Happy

As for tow charges, it'll be $10 per kg per km with a base charge of 6kg (m923's weight) hahahaha....
Hope the m923 doesn't gets towed instead... Very Happy

hahaha... i had decided to leave a 5mm shaft joint (linking the 2 rear drive shafts together) rubbing against the aluminium to produce some squeeks.. Very Happy
