Re: Boolean21's AEV Jeep Brute 1/10 scratch build
some updates...
did up bit by bit over the past 2 months...
added a roof to the front cab...
roof after sanding...
more putty to fill in the gaps...
touching up the front fender areas...
more putty and sanding....
mocked up on axial axles, junfac rims, ripsaw 1.9 tyres.... to gauge the fender flares size....
that's all for now....
more work to be done...
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's AEV Jeep Brute 1/10 scratch build
some updates....
checked and prepared the artwork for the panels on the computer...
cut out the panels on stickers....
pasted the stickers onto the styrene...
traced and cut out the panels...
next, pasted the stickers for the second layer of styrene...
the second layer is to add some details to the panels....
traced and peeled off the stickers...
cut out the panels...
sticked the "additional layer" onto the base panels...
glued up the bed....
mocked up the bed with the cab...
mocked up the body with 1.9 wheels and tyres...
thats all for now....
next up will be sanding, sanding and more sanding for the bed....
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's AEV Jeep Brute 1/10 scratch build
Very nice, and thanks for showing the build steps with the stickers. You should patent this method as "half-CNC"
Re: Boolean21's AEV Jeep Brute 1/10 scratch build
after some nights of midnight oil burning....
managed to do up the fenders....
below are some progress photos taken ...
sanded the corners of the bed a little...
traced the fenders onto the styrene and cut out the pieces...
then joined up the fenders...
sticked the fenders onto the front cab and the truck bed...
added some details of the door hinge as well as the door handles....
filled up the holes on the fenders....
that's all for now....
thanks for looking!

Re: Boolean21's AEV Jeep Brute 1/10 scratch build
Boolean, you can use triangle strip to strengten your bed joint. It will look more conform to the bed. Whats the total weight of the body?

ya bro, wanted to use triangular rods, but can't find them.... so used square rods instead....
either will fill and sand it... or leave it like that... depends on how much midnight oil left...
didnt weight the body... but it's still considered light... for now...
Re: Boolean21's AEV Jeep Brute 1/10 scratch build
Some updates...
some work done over a few nights...
Ordered an Axial 27T motor for the Brute...
fixed up the spare venom creeper transmission that i had left from the 6x6 build...
mounted the tranny on the aluminium brackets and test fit under the cab...
needed some 60mm shocks... and found a set of spare shocks from my OTA-R31...
so built it up and see if it is usable...
i had also mounted the shocks upside down to save some trouble in additional modifications to fit...
the 60mm shocks are still too long... and causing the drive shaft angle to be very steep...
so... had to drill a few more holes to shift down the transmission a little as well as slant the shocks so as to lower the gap between the tyres and the fenders....
Drive shaft angle looks better now... although still a little on the extreme...
once the body weighs down the suspensions... the angles should be good to go...
Here's how the AEV Jeep Brute looks like now...

some updates on the brute...
did up the links, bead locked the ripsaw tyres on junfac 1.9 rims
fitted the drive shafts to the venom creeper transmission...
some midnight posing shots...
not to forget our all time favourite "dog peeing stance"...
