Babyboy's Land Rover Defender D90 on Axial SCX10
Ordered some item for my Defender build D90 and D110 build.
Bought 2 colors and 2 versions of wheels. No wheel weight is required. Each wheel with tyre weight about 197g compared to my existing wheel used for my Camel D110 is a mere 93g, a different by more than 100g. The problem I had with the first version is water and sand getting into the wheel. I had to remove the wheel from the tyre to clear the sand out.
Black. The black do not have holes. No water will seep in between.
White. Should be easy to shake the sand out... hopefully.
Axial Dingo has a short wheelbase compared to Honcho. Not much was done here except I change the 3 link to 4 link. Front and back uses the shorter 4 link. I replaced the shock to Gmade TS01 for that bouncy and soft movement used on my D110. The weight of the wheel holds the tyre down pretty well.
Test fit the D90. After the 4 link setup I get pretty close to the D90 wheelbase (the 4 link tilt the axel forward slightly), except for the front which is out by 5 mm or so. That should not be any concern to me. I'll just leave it first. Even with the battery test mounted on the D90, the shocks still holds up the chassis quite high as compared to the D110.
Back alignment
Front alignment
Next will be the painting. Hope the paint comes out the way I wanted. That's all for now. Need to work on the army version D110

Cross my finger! 6x6 is in the pipe. But still not sure to build it with a Defender or my CMP Ford.

Here's a little update. Really bad in painting. I ran out of paint... will get some at Kiddy Palace later near office.

Have yet to paint the top. And I need a clear paint too. That's all for now. Thanks for watching.

No lah... The color that you see on the can is not really what you get. Not really the type of color that I wanted initially.

Re: Babyboy's Land Rover Defender D90 on Axial SCX10
Finally after an hour or so I manage to cut out the gear box to fit in on the chassis. Other than a few touch up and lens cover, the D90 is ready to roll. Will not be putting up the lighting yet but will try to get at least the basic if have time. Come NDP2013 will mark my 1 year anniversary trail with the bros of SGCrawlers. Hope to get 3 Landy running by than.
Here's the finish product. I trim the fender slightly so that I can get the max articulation with minimum rubbing. I have decided to stay with the current wheelbase of the SCX10 Dingo. Hope you guys like it and hope to see more Landy build in SGCrawlers. Enjoy!

Wiow, this is one stunning Land Rover! Really nice!
The light bar is the one that Hobbyking introduced recently, isn't it? How do you like it?
Hope to see it running soon!

Thanks Werner. Yes the light bar is from Hobbyking. Quality of the light bucket is not very impressive. Manage to over tighten the hex nut easily. And the light bucket do not align properly. I had to adjust the grill so that the light bucket looks straight. Overall for the price paid for it is worth it.. Comes with 6 Leds.

Re: Babyboy's Land Rover Defender D90 on Axial SCX10
Been busy over the weekend. Dismantle the SCX10 and shorten the 4 link for the D90. This is in anticipation for the next D90 build. The wheels have to be in align in the mud guard.
The front and rear link is the same length. With the shorten link, I need to take care of the angle of the drive shaft.

Looks much more scale and I'm loving it!

Next will be installing and testing the winch. Thanks for watching.

Re: Babyboy's Land Rover Defender D90 on Axial SCX10
@ lostdriv3r... Second photo from the above. I use a treaded rod to go thru the hole between the front door and front fender. The rear I drill 2 hole on the landy plastic bumper to mount 3M screw to act as guide thru the rear hole of the Axial part that holds the rear bumper. Hmm... is this confusing? Post build
