truck - 8X8 truck building suggestions.. Empty 8X8 truck building suggestions..

Post by Unimog Thu 20 Sep 2012 - 1:41

Hi guys,

I am interested in building a 8X8 truck or missile launcher. After looking at a few Rc crawler website, It seems difficult to find a axle have 2 driving train link. Usual arrangement is in T arrangement and I am looking for + arrangement so that I can use it to drive another axle. Anyone happen to come arcross any 8X8 plan?

Thanks

[never done anything like this, but browsing the web a lot...]

I've seen people take 2 SCX10 axles to make a single "+" axle out of it. The halfs are symmetrical, so you can put two pieces that have the bevel gear and drive shaft together. Apparently you have to watch direction and turn the last "T" axle up-side down for the wheels to spin in the right direction.

Bro slow build a 6x6 using Axial axel. Can use it as guide. (I'm looking at 6x6 as 3rd landy body is here.)

Great, it's best if you used 2 motors to power it. Cuz there's going to be some power loss with such long drive trains. I'd use MOA style, it'll be easier though not as scale but the cover will hide it anyway.

If I had more lego rims I can built up to 20 wheels road train. Haha.
