Another Newbie
Hi all, I happen to come upon this site and the crazy RC crawlers I have ever seen, though I must admit, I have not held a RC for years.... years I say.
But, watching how technology has progressed and looking at all those wonderful Defender 90 and 110, made me want in.
I won't have much time to build them, like I used to a decade ago, so I decided to order one from RCmodelex for a 110 RTR with all the bells and whistles they might have.
I hope to make new friends who will share my insanity for RC's and this time, I hope that it will sustain. My last kit was a track car, HPI kit back in 1998 That's how long I have not played. I bought a 2wd buggy a couple of years ago, 1/10th as well and my dogs had more fun chasing it than I did.
Here's to RC Crawling

Re: Another Newbie
well, have just been informed by them to wait as they are coming up with a new body for the defender 110. but the good news is, they can do everything up for me. Should I buy the radio from them or shall I just get one in singapore?

Its the support I got fr bros here in the forum. Now I m crazy about Land rover. Watching the camel trophy video whenever i have time.(repeatedly). Your D110 may not be the same lenght as mine. As i base on the D90 scale which is not 1/10. Cant wait to see yours. If you are getting the winch you need a 3rd channel with 3 point in order to utilise the winch.

Ah ha.. Camel Trophy. I had the real D90 TD 200 Camel Trophy vehicle some years back, when I did real offroading.. those were the days.
I plan on getting the Futaba 4 channel Radio, so should not be a problem with the channels. Your rig is not 1/10 scale? Is the one from RCmodelex also not 1/10th scale?
Wow, I just saw some videos of the winch in action. Man, this is getting quite realistic. I showed the video to my wife and a friend, they thought it was real. My wife was thinking I had gone crazy again, wanting to buy a real Landy. Than I told her it was a scale, we burst out laughing.

Re: Another Newbie
That was a nice tactic bro.... let the Mrs think it was real... and tell her you are getting the scale version...
Re: Another Newbie
My D110 is actually 1/8.6 scale. I did the measurement on the D90 and the Land Rover D110 blue print I had and the measurement of 1/10 before my build. But the D90 is loosely scale at 1/10. Comparing my wheel base with RC4WD D110, my wheel base is shorter. You can still use your existing radio for the trail.

That's the way to go
I noticed in videos, the D90 tends to flip over backwards more easily when it has encountered obstacles and you apply power. The D110, seems tad more stable, perhaps the longer wheelbase prevails.

Re: Another Newbie
All the D90 including D110 all had top heavy problem.I had many tipping over when I start out. Made worst with my scale wheel which is narrow than most D90. Many upgrade has been done on the D110 and still changing to make it stable yet scale look. It is still in progress work till now.
