Newbie with Questions..
Hi,
A newbie here intended to go into RC crawling, however, there are questions I will like to ask:
1) what is Axial Wraith mainly for? Rock climbing or can also be used for scale trailing?
2) Axial Wraith, Axial SCX10 & etc... are they just some standard names for different kind of
axial and not brands?
3) What is the most common scale that you guys go into for Rock Climbing and Scale Trail?
4) What are the common brands out there that you guys purchase?

Re: Newbie with Questions..
Hi,
I wont be able to answer all your questions. Must wait for the gurus to answer..
You might wanna click http://www.axialracing.com/ftp/chassis_selection.html for more info on Axial products..
There are many brands used here commonly Axial, Tamiya, Losi, Traxxas, Rcmodelex, Venom and custom chassis scalers..

Re: Newbie with Questions..
1. the Wraith is built as a rock racer, can be used for crawling/trails, though its not as good at crawling as AX10.
2. Axial is the brand name, SCX10, AX10, Wraith are different models of trucks within its range.
3. the guys run 1/10 scale, its the most common scale size.
4. bro Wrigleys has summed up the different brands we have.

hi bro, welcome on board.
for scaling, axial wraith, scx10 are recommended for their scale looks... personally, i would opt for scx10... as it's more to scale with the 1.9 tires... and will encounter challenges along the trails... which make the trails more interesting...
wraith is fun too... can speed a little, and with the 2.2 tires, would clear most stuffs in the trails... sometimes not very fun to just roll over the obstacles... it all depends on what you want...
for rock crawling, it would be another type of rigs... can consider the axial ax10 or axial xr10... these trucks do not look as scale as the others, but with longer suspensions and better articulations, they would perform on rocks much better than the scale trucks.
so it still boils down to what you want to do with the truck.

Seems like scale trail is the way to go for me..
1)From what i read here, its seems that quite lot of bros here are on Axial, any reasons?
Is it because its one of the best crawlers brand out there or other reasons?
2) Is scale trail best to be in EP? becoz i dun see much GP scale trail crawlers here even in youtube..
Might sharing why? Sorry if i asked too much questions.. just wanna get more info before i sank deep into it..

Re: Newbie with Questions..
1) So far as SGcrawlers have tested many brand of crawlers. Axial is the most rugged in terms of performance and quality. Axial had been improving their truck design to further enhance their performance.
2)If you are running GP on crawlers, the engine will overheated. Coz model engine need to be air cooled by the wind when the vehicle is moving. Unless you can find a water-cooled engine.
Furthermore , you will need to design a gearbox that have reverse gear. And also the annoying engine sound and the toxic fumes will pollute the enviroment.
If you like engine sound, you can install MFU unit in your truck. This unit produce realistic engine sound that synchronise with the throttle control. You can tune the volume of the sound.

You can check out some of the build threads we have in the forum...
For using scx10, u can see wrigleys thread, he has a link to a guy in pakistan, with some photos of modding the scx10 for the landy..
Re: Newbie with Questions..
Hi, Scx10 is very mod able. Can mod into anything up to ur creativity. So far only need to shorten the links. No mod to the chassis is required unless you want the d90 body to sit lower. You can refer to the build thread. Me as a newbie also can do it. And before you ask where to get the best bang for bucks axial products, go to towerhobbies, register and wait for their promos (discount code, international shipping discount). Happy buying!

most of the meets are on weekends.. we do have occasional weekday evening meets...
looking for more kakis for weekday evening meets...
best time would be during the meets so that you can see the different mix of trucks at one go...
