HobbyKing 6V 3A BEC

HobbyKing 6V 3A BEC
Hi folks,
I noticed that HobbyKing has a little 6V 3A BEC for sale now, and since the cost is moderate at USD 4.03 I've put some in my shopping basket during the last order.
Tamiya kits often still come with an ESC that doesn't include a BEC (e.g. TEU-101BK or TEU-104BK; TEU-105BK does have a BEC!), it may be an interesting product for some of us (Mini owners especially!)
This is a first look, I haven't done any electrical test yet.
The BEC is small 23 x 21 x 8 mm, it is actually thinner for most part, only the output capacitor is bulky.
Underneath the heat shrink is a shielding alu foil, which is glued down with Kapton tape for insulation. Opening up the shield, e.g. for changing the wiring, is destructive to the tape and foil.
The output wiring is a bit on the thin side. The soldering on the board is a bit shoddy, but I've seen worse. This BEC is a switch mode BEC, so it will be efficient and should be fine for the rated output.
So far so good. I will report when I have more findings -- positive or negative...
