Like to share to all my current built of the Tamiya large scale static series F1 cars. It`s always been my dream to build this kinda detailed scale model, and due the recent F1 craze, I finally took the plunge and get this vintage kit off ebay few months ago.

Preparation for painting

For the paints, I used Tamiya rattle cans Silver leaf for most aluminum components, Light gun metal for the gearbox and Matt black for black stuffs

The build up, I skipped the instructions and went straight to the hear of the model... Engine!

At this point, I apply some wash onto the engine and gearbox to give it a used look. I use the Tamiya bottle Smoke and directly apply onto the surface with a brush. Excess can easily wiped away with a tissue or damp cloth. Also added detail finishes with some blue, gold/ titanium gold and clear red for giving that anodized look.

The wire cord and clear fuel lines were supplied with the kit and added at this stage, which took most of the time as the clear tubes has hardened due to aging... need to use some heat and a pin to enlarge the ends and then insert to the injectors one by one...

Fantastic! What a great kit.

Engine swap with the RC car would sure bring it up significantly, but will be almost as expensive as a 1:1 F1 car Smile

Truely they are great kits and satisfying to built. You should pickup one and have a collection... with your modelling skills surely have no problems building them! Twisted Evil

Just another couple of happy hours spent, and the model is ready for the last few stages of body panel painting (hoped won't screwed that up...) and misc. touching up of chassis etc.
