Wrigleys XR10 Build
... and so the inevitable happens. Journey to the dark side?
Day 1
Delivered in a week from Tower..
I had this from my AX10 so gonna use it in the mean time. Proline Hammer 2.2
The build starts..
Had trouble along the way.. As you can see from the pictures, the button head was hitting the motor and restricting the steering movement. Quick SOS to Boolean. After filing and trimming the ball end to make it shorter, the button head finally had enough clearance to slide beneath the motor. Thanks Boo!
All in all, managed these in 5 hours. My first kit and very noob at this.. The pictures self are explanatory guys..
I would be using cheap electronics mainly 2 x 320A Esc from China cos I would be running a dual esc setup, 2 x Axial 55t motors, Towerpro MG996R servo and a not so cheap Futaba 4PL which has dual esc mixing to achieve the dig effect. That's all for today.. to be continued...
Day 2
And so the build continued. Poured another litre of midnight oil to complete this roller.
Started off with building the shocks. Quite straightforward for a newbie like me and got it done. Take note not to pour too much shock oil as the kiasu me who poured a little too much made the oil leak..
Fixed it to the front and rear axle together with the lower and upper links.
Soon the xr10 took shape..
Kind of a no name servo which gives out about 10kg torque. Got it from ebay.. Lets see how it holds up.
Finally mounted the tires and locked into place.. It came with wheel weights for the front. Nice of Axial to include those.. Pictures not taken though..
It was 3am and time to sleep...
More updates as I mount the esc, rx and whatever electronics that are still on the way..
Till then....
I am still waiting for the esc which has been a month now so I decided to cut and paint the body.
Used these 2 paints from Jethobby. Costed me about $5.50 each.
Sticked the window panels with the provided tape and also ran a tamiya tape across the lower part of the body.
I probably applied 5-6 layers of blue (as what I'm told, darker colour first)
Removed the painting tape for orange paint to be applied.
Applied 3-4 layers of orange for the final touch. The painting was quite a rush job and if you look closely, it is far from perfect.
Rig Completed. Using 2 320A China ESC (forward, reverse and brake) and a 4PL to control the 2 esc.
Wires are in a mess but I will get it sorted soon.
Pics taken during the last crawling session on 23 September thanks to Boolean. So far so good.
Stuffs that need to be upgraded eg. better tires (HB rovers like the 2nd pic loaned from coldman, metal servo horn and shocks. Stock shocks leaked but still usable.)
